New Meditations
Challenging Thoughts for Challenging TimesWe all make them – and break them. This year I will lose XX number of pounds. I’ll exercise X times a week this year. Really, this year I’m gonna do it! We are not resolute about our resolutions. It’s like starting a diet on Monday…or after the holidays. But there is always another holiday…like Ground Hogs Day for instance. Instead of making a once a year resolution, what about making a daily commitment to our health and well-being – each morning. And if you blow it, you don’t beat yourself up – you just recommit – each morning.
- Commit today to parking at the end of the parking lot or taking the stairs when you can so you are forced to walk a bit farther and consciously get your body moving and breathing.
- Commit today to eating a healthier meal, or skip one not so healthy snack.
- Commit today to not getting angry at the driver that cuts you off – to lower your stress and your blood pressure.
- Commit today to finding something to laugh about – and someone to laugh with.
- And remind myself today to call someone I love.
Centered Action
The list of possibilities is endless. Instead of making grand promises that we can’t manage to keep, what about thinking of small manageable lifestyle changes we can easily take on each day. Once we start making the goals small and getting into the daily habit of healthier behavior, it is much easier to begin “upping the ante” to setting bigger goals.
Begin each day a new!
