New Meditations
Challenging Thoughts for Challenging TimesFear of the unknown – it elicits a visceral response from us. Everyone has this response to new and unknown stimuli. When we lived as cave men, it was a natural protective response to be “on guard” in case of danger and the dangers were real. But there are no more Tyrannosaurs Rex lurking outside our doors to strike us down.
We have to acknowledge the truth of what we are feeling, otherwise our feelings can cause stress on our bodies and our psyche. We have to shine a light on our boogeymen. Being afraid doesn’t make us weak – we are merely joining the rest of humanity. It is part of our natural human experience.
First and foremost, we have to put a label on our fears and recognize that they are happening inside of us, even though the feeling may be sparked by an outside circumstance or challenge. Fear is centered in our self-concerned self, not in our God Self.
Centered Action
If we identify and feel our feelings at the time that they happen, they disappear.
An important first step to being rid of our fears, is to write down our fear and ask ourselves why we think we are feeling this way. What was our part in claiming this fear? Did we allow our shadow side to go to the worst, darkest scenario? Did we allow some outside circumstance to set us on guard when there may not be any need to be on guard? The feelings are happening inside of us. The outside stimulus is not to blame. We gave that boogeyman the power over how we feel.
Name your fear – Describe it – Shine your magnificent magical Light on it. All our experiences are just transitions – moving us to the next phase of our life. We are right now, Safe and Protected in the Loving Hands of Spirit.
