New Meditations
Challenging Thoughts for Challenging TimesIt seems ridiculous to think that whistling in the dark will do anything to take away our fears. In the Sound of Music, the children sing a song so that they won’t be afraid of the storm. Sounds crazy. But when you are sad or afraid, your voice can be a great healer. If you sing out loud, or laugh deeply from your belly, or have a really hearty cry – to Spirit these are all Joyful Noises. Spirit loves to hear the sound of our voices. And physically, we release tension and anxiety by allowing sound – any sound – to vibrate through our body.
The sound of our voice centers us in our body, connecting us to the Peace in the Universe. Sing a song, chant a prayer, read a poem out loud, speak from your heart. We are calling out for help and for comfort. We are asking to be filled with Joy. We are abandoning ourselves, and asking our problems to be healed.
