Loving Self-Care through the Holidays…and Always
For me the holidays are a time of Joy and Fun, and of Expressing our Giving Spirit. And sometimes they are filled with family stresses, obligations, excesses of food and stuff all around us, added financial juggling, and a never-ending to-do list. And even if I have a love/hate relationship with all that chaos, it can be hard on me. Add to that, everywhere we go, everyone else is running fast and furious, so the Energy feels more intense. Through all this bustle, who gets lost in the shuffle is us, and our Loving Self-Care practices. We seem to forget ourselves in this giving season.
For those of us who are committed to Mind/Body/Spirit Wellness, the holidays can be a challenging time. Our Hearts are Open to Giving to others, and that feels Expansive and Fulfilling. We want the very best for those we Love – and we are touched by those in need and feel urgings to see where we can assist.
We are also part of those who need Love, Thoughtfulness and Kindness. It is sometimes easier to put our attention on others. Yet we have to remember to Lovingly take care of ourselves. It is a great time, even if you think you don’t have the time, to give yourself the Gift of Time. Do something you like to do…something that feeds your body, feeds your mind or feeds your Soul…or all of these. We all need Loving Attention, and this is true whether it is the holiday season or any other day.
Centered Action:
When was the last time you read a good book – or listened to an audio book, just for fun? Or did something Creative, for the sheer Joy of it? When was the last time you asked for help to ease your burden or to-do list, to give others the Gift of Giving to you? Or walked in a garden, or forest or by the beach…and just paused to take in all those colors, smells, and sounds? When was the last time you pampered yourself with something delicious to eat, to learn, to ease your body, and quiet your thoughts. The Truth is these are things we want to focus on – all through our busy lives. We are Worthy of the Gift of Loving Care.
