Reframing Procrastination
To those of you who lovingly gave me your email address at a psychic fair some time quite a bit ago, I apologize that it has taken so long to get something spiritual into your in-box. If I misspelled your name, please please let me know. For those of you who have been on my email blog as a continuous supporter…thank you, and I apologize that it has taken so long to get something spiritual into your in-box.
Currently, I have been struggling to accomplish some of the challenging tasks in my life. Even if they are important – even if they have deadlines – even knowing that some are going to bring a flow of money into my life – even if they are for my Higher Purpose to be of Service…I have been procrastinating. For some of us, including me, immediate gratification can be alluring and hard to resist. Doing something fun… is just more fun.
All of us have a lot of life stressors and it’s easy to put off and justify by saying we will do it tomorrow. All my barriers about why I’m just too busy, too much going on, don’t have the ability to concentrate on that right now or whatever my other excuses might be, are just stories I make up. I set my own priorities, and other stuff in my life is getting done. Maybe you can identify with all of this too. The bottom line is this: resistance to anything blocks our Goodness. If we could get neutral about what we are not doing, we’d be fine. But usually, we can’t stop thinking and judging ourselves about what is not getting done, no matter how much we are getting done, and it colors how we feel about ourselves.
We can grumpily struggle trying to avoid completing the tasks – which makes the tasks even more unbearable because we are fighting with them. We can try to force ourselves to do the unpleasant tasks…which hasn’t work for me at least. Or we can change our attitude about time consuming cleanup projects in our life…but just how can we do that? Let me be honest at least about myself. I’d like to be Joy-filled in everything I do and see it as part of my Life‘s Great Adventure, but sometime with some things, the best I can do is look forward to completion. I feel Joy and Gratitude – and see the Blessing – when I’m done with these tasks. Usually, the best I can get to, is to raise myself above frustration, overwhelm and self-judgement to Courage, Determination and Persistence. And I usually need to ask Source and get connected to my Highest Self to find these.
Next, we keep Being Present, and take the first baby step – and then another baby step – and then another. And the next day, we recommit to this slow process with another baby step. When we get discouraged by how big a job the whole thing is or how long it is taking, we set that worry aside…and distract those thoughts by concentrating on what we are willing and can do right now. And we need to give ourselves loads of Compassion.
When someone gives me their name and email address and asks to be added to my blog, there is an Energy Exchange. When we write our name, it contains our energy. When I add a name and email address to my blog, I am connecting again with that person’s energy and sending out Blessings to them – and that feels like a great honor. Even though I resist the task of updating my email list – there is an opportunity for me and for the other person as well. So, I took many baby steps – over and over and over again – and finished updating all the new email addresses I’d gratefully received, because it was important to me. That resistance was in the way of my sending out this email blog – and future email blogs – to everyone – and reconnecting with all of you again. Writing and Teaching is my Passion, and I was blocking my Light. I’m sending out an Energy Healing for your Highest Wellbeing to everyone!
