Turning Around Pity Through Gratitude

November 2024

Sometimes our lives feel like a struggle. We may feel overwhelmed about our health, our finances, our family or work life, our love life or about changes or losses with loved ones. Add to that world events, and it brings up fears which throw us into a state of pity.

We are all experiencing what feels like a sad loss. It may be recent or long-standing. We might even be mad about it. Maybe we are mad at others or maybe we are mad at ourselves. We are in personal turmoil about the loss, thinking that what we want we can never have, or that what we have we definitely don’t want. And our deeper fears may surface telling us that it might even get worse. We cannot accept what is. If we stay in this state for some time, it may begin to feel, well maybe not comfortable, but somewhat familiar and even normal. Our head says – This is the way it is…this is the way it’s always going to be…a slight feeling of lost Hope. This way of thinking colors how we perceive all of our life. Some of us may also think we have to protect ourselves from the worst – which shuts down our Heart and block Possibilities.

We may be begging the Universe to please change whatever, but then we are not patient. So, before a miracle can happen, we look for ways to fix it ourselves. When we are doing pity, we are doing life – all alone. We play the blame, shame or I gotta handle it all myself game

Being Present and Accepting is sometimes difficult if we are in physical, mental, emotional or spiritual pain or loss. But when I write down anything that I am Grateful for, it raises my energy and attitude. Even if it is something very small, I get an immediate Centering. It is the Practice of Living in the Now. Noticing and Accepting the Beauty in my Life as it is…Just as it is…Just as I am…Just as they are – helps me Focus on the Blessings I do have. Gratitude helps us to find Joy, including what is going on. Each moment can be Joyful and include sadness, fear and uncertainty. This open Possibilities.

Centered Action:

Today is all we get. We can waste it in pity, or we can Express Joy through Gratitude. Things may not be as we wish them to be, but EVERY Life Experience, both the Joyous ones and the Challenging one are Opportunities for us to Gratefully See Blessings in our life, and let it be so.

To our Health and Well Being!!
