New Meditations
Challenging Thoughts for Challenging TimesWe are all looking for connections but we have qualifications. We want the connections to be significant and we want a guarantee that we will not get hurt. We want these conditions whether the connection is a friendship or deeper love relationships. If we are waiting for the perfect conditions we are going to be missing out on life. Sometimes when we slow down and connect with others in small ways, we can be shocked at the result that one momentary connection can have on our life. And, we may see that our connection can make a real difference in someone else’s life – and that can transform us as well. These experiences happen when we are open to life.
When a stranger in the grocery store smiles at me and tells me to have a great day, I think “right on”. They are stepping out to make a connection. I smile back and wish them the same. They feel great and so do I. We are merely practicing making a connection. This is taking every opportunity in life to step out, take a chance and trust.
Centered Action
Willingness is the key. Stick my toes in the water. If I attempt to make a connection and the other person doesn’t respond, move on. I cannot die from hurt feelings but I can be living a half-empty life if I live holding back. I will be missing the wonderful experiences that the Universe intends for me. Look for opportunities in my daily life to make a connection with someone.
