Challenging Thoughts for Challenging TimesEveryone I have ever met is to a varying degree concerned with their body – men and women – some to a point of obsession. Some body parts we have control over through exercise and diet. Some we do not. And we usually talk about it as something we are not. Not thin enough, not toned enough, not round enough, not big enough, not small enough. Not someway I think it should be to make me feel okay. We are in a state of constant negative thinking… about our beautiful and miraculous bodies. Judging, and taking crazy actions based on our judgments…I will be okay when my body looks like (fill in the blank). We have a heaviness about how we think about our bodies – who we are is not acceptable because of how we look.
Here is the truth. Whatever size and shape and form you have right this moment is the perfect size, shape and form for you right this moment in time, in this place in your life. You are acceptable, loveable and beautiful just as you are. Your body as it is right this moment serves a purpose for this time and space in your life. This is where you are supposed to be and how you are supposed to be. How do I know? Because this is where you are at – there are no mistakes in the Universe – only life lessons.
This may be a starting point for some change, or it may be the finish line, or somewhere along the life-long race line. It is our human condition to seek comfort. We are always right sized for maximum comfort. What we have to figure out is, are we also right sized for our maximum health and well-being?
The questions to ask are: Can I make my lifestyle more health-full? Can I become more health conscientious? What small, incremental change can I make to move me in a more positive health direction? The clue is – I get to choose what that positive direction is for me – and intuitively I know what that next right choice is for me…and so do you.
Centered Action
If I practice acceptance of what is right in this moment I will fit in the world.
Where ever you are in the health spectrum … Let today be a day where you are letting go of heaviness and excesses. Today I am right sized just as I am – no judgements. Today I choose more health and well-being.
