Mask or No Mask – That is the Question (Masks Part 1)

There are maskers and anti-maskers.  It’s become this huge topic with so much energy attached.  It’s now a thing to have mask shaming for not wearing a mask, and for wearing a mask.  Who would have thought that mask-shamming would even be part of our vocabulary?  Some places have signs that say masks required – some say masks encouraged.  Then in the next week, back to masks required.  Even dating sites have updated preferences for meeting someone as virtual only, masked and social distanced, or social distanced only.  Wearing or not wearing is a decision for your own conscience.

I am currently a masker – but tomorrow that might change.  For today, I feel more secure in public when I’m wearing a mask and you are wearing a mask.  Is your freedom important? – Yes!  Is my belief for safety and protection important? – Yes!  So, for now, I’ll social distance and wear a mask gratefully – well gratefully most of the time.

If you choose to not wear a mask and not social distance, that is your right.  Currently, that is not in my comfort zone.  My desire for you is to enjoy yourself following your conscience and to stay healthy.    For now, that means that I am choosing to enjoy myself in other places, in other ways.  Do I wish that I could find the comfort and ease I used to experience going to the beach whenever I wanted – no longer an option for me at times where I see no masks and no social distancing? – Yes!  Is it merely a temporary inconvenience? – Yes!  I am still able to enjoy the ocean in the evening when all the tourists have left.  There are always solutions.

As far as your point of view about maskers or anti-maskers – “being right” and holding on to justified anger is always based in fear, and harms us.  And just to be clear, that is the truth about all judgments on any issue, for everyone.  If I’m taking a “position” I’m anchored in place.  I’m unable to see another’s point of view, and I’m closed off from yet-unseen possibilities.  It is none of my business what other people are doing or not doing – especially if judging their behaviors messes with my Serenity.  And judging others’ behaviors always messes with our Serenity…and does nothing to change their behavior!  My business is to tend to my business.  For now, that is to protect myself and those I love to the best of my ability.  I have to follow my Intuition about my comfort levels.  If something feels unsafe for me in this moment, it is my Inner Guidance moving me to Safety and Peace.

Centered Action:

For those of you wearing masks:  Mask on – I practice saying thank you.  Mask off – I practice saying thank you.

My wish for all of us is to be Blessed with Ease, Health and Well Being – no matter what our personal choices.
